Buffalo Rider's Early Intervention Program

The Buffalo Riders Program strengthens community capacity to support Indigenous youth through early and brief interventions aimed at reducing harmful substance use.

Rooted in Indigenous wisdom, the program is culturally grounded and strength-based, helping youth build confidence, resilience, and positive self-identity.

Designed for youth ages 11-13 (adaptable up to age 17), the program focuses on enhancing Emotional Intelligence through:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Self-direction

Program Focus Areas

  • Culture as a foundation for prevention
  • Emotional intelligence and resiliency
  • Brain development and substance use
  • Life promotion and positive decision-making

All teachings are guided by Indigenous values and align with the Canadian Centre for Substance Abuse's Prevention Standards.
