Nanaadawegaming Legacy Space

Honouring the Past, Supporting Healing for the Future

Nanaadawegaming is proud to be recognized as a Registered Legacy Space, a designation that acknowledges our commitment to truth, healing, education, and reconciliation. As a Legacy Space, we provide a safe and respectful environment where individuals, families, and communities can learn about the lasting impacts of colonization, residential schools, intergenerational trauma, and the resilience of Indigenous Peoples.

Our Legacy Space serves as a place for reflection, learning, cultural connection, and healing. We recognize that understanding our shared history is an important part of creating meaningful change and fostering healthier communities for future generations.

What is a Legacy Space?

A Legacy Space is a designated environment where the stories, experiences, and histories of Indigenous Peoples are honoured and preserved. These spaces encourage dialogue, promote awareness, and support reconciliation by creating opportunities for education, cultural engagement, and healing-centered experiences.

Legacy Spaces help ensure that the truths of the past are remembered while supporting pathways toward wellness, understanding, and renewed relationships.

Our Commitment

As a Registered Legacy Space, Nanaadawegaming is committed to:

  • Honouring the experiences of Residential School Survivors, Day School Survivors, Sixties Scoop Survivors, and their families.
  • Providing culturally safe and trauma-informed services and programming.
  • Creating opportunities for education, reflection, and meaningful conversations about reconciliation.
  • Supporting Indigenous cultural knowledge, teachings, ceremonies, and traditional healing practices.
  • Promoting community wellness, resilience, and intergenerational healing.
  • Encouraging respectful engagement and learning among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

A Place for Learning and Healing

Our Legacy Space welcomes individuals, families, organizations, and community groups seeking to deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories and contemporary realities. Through storytelling, cultural teachings, wellness programming, ceremonies, and community gatherings, we strive to create a space where healing, understanding, and reconciliation can flourish.

At Nanaadawegaming, we believe that honouring the truth of our collective history strengthens our ability to walk forward together with respect, compassion, and hope. Every step toward understanding is a step toward healing.
